Christina Genovese
PSYCHOTHERAPIST IN TRAINING
About Christina
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a supplementary major in Gender Studies from the University of Notre Dame. I spent over a decade in corporate consulting and change management, supporting people and organizations through periods of transition and uncertainty. These experiences deepened my understanding of the human side of change and the ways our work, relationships, and identities intersect, shaping the perspective I now bring to my clinical training.
I’m currently pursuing my Master of Social Work at the University of Connecticut, with a concentration in Individuals, Groups, and Families Practice. I’m especially passionate about supporting women and mothers through pregnancy, postpartum, parenthood, and other significant life transitions. My approach is thoughtful and collaborative, and I aim to create a space for honest conversations about identity, relationships, expectations, and the often-unspoken parts of the perinatal experience.
CORE VALUES
Curiosity, Honesty, Compassion, Connection, Discovery
What is it like to work with me?
My style is warm, collaborative, curious, and down-to-earth. I want you to feel comfortable bringing your whole self into the session, knowing you’ll be met without judgment. I'll listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and work with you to better understand what you’re experiencing, recognize patterns, and consider new perspectives.
I bring a practical, grounded approach, with attention to what feels realistic and meaningful in your everyday life.
Our work together can include deeper reflection, problem-solving, or simply making space for difficult emotions, depending on what serves you in the moment.
Why this work?
Becoming a mother was all of the things: joyful, humbling, illuminating, and transformative. It deepened my appreciation for how complex the path to and through motherhood can be, and for the invisible mental and emotional load women often carry. It also gave me an opportunity to pause and reflect after years of moving quickly in a corporate career, ultimately leading me to this work.
I’m drawn to supporting women through both the expected and unexpected parts of fertility, pregnancy, and motherhood, and offering a space where their experiences are given the attention and care they deserve. I believe there is no one right way to navigate these transitions, and that it’s important to make space for all of it—what we may be grieving, what we want to hold on to, what has changed, and who we are becoming.

“We are not quite novels. We are not quite short stories. In the end, we are collected works.”
