Kristen Beardslee

CLINICAL INTERN

(& Psychiatric Mental Health Doctor of Nursing Practice Student)

About Kristen

I’m a certified nurse midwife (CNM) and women’s health nurse practitioner with over 12 years of experience. Before becoming a CNM, I worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) in both the

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Labor & Delivery.  I’ve dedicated my career to helping women and children with diverse backgrounds and needs - providing personal care and support during the many highs and lows of the motherhood experience.

I am also a mother, a runner, a dancer, and a constant student who continually strives to learn and grow in the field of women’s health.

CORE VALUES

Kindness, Empathy, Courage, Integrity, & Balance

What is it like to work with me?

My number one priority is to allow women the time and space needed to be truly listened to, in a non-judgmental way. I believe in a holistic approach to well-being that is trauma informed, taking into consideration my client’s childhood, medical history, culture, genetics, stress levels, hormonal fluctuations and much more. I am certified in psychiatric medication management and can help clients understand if this may be a useful tool for them, or not.  I can also utilize EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) therapy for clients who have faced trauma.

While working with me, you can expect patience, empathy, and humility. I hope we can laugh, cry, and learn together as we navigate the process of healing and thriving.  I may not have all the answers immediately, but I do believe that through collaboration, trust, and connection we can work together towards finding them.

Why this work?

I believe in this work because mental health IS health.  My career thus far has taught me that women are incredibly strong, but more importantly, that women need and deserve more when it comes to healthcare in this country.  The mind and body cannot be separated, and neither can be ignored when it comes to health and well-being.
